I happened to hear that the Exeter Festival Craft Fair was on this weekend and suggested to Helen, who hadn’t been to one, that we should go, and she was keen. Saturday morning we packed a picnic lunch, loaded that on our bikes and set off for town.
We parked our bikes in the Cathedral Close and began to wander around the various displays this warm sunny summer day. It was a perfect day for casually lolling about. There were lots of interesting stalls. I particularly liked the photography stalls, and was impressed by the canvas printing that was being commonly used.
We picked a place to eat lunch where we could watch the various dancing displays being put on by a couple of groups. One group was performing traditional Morris dancing whilst the other was performing country dances from around the world, including some from the Appalachian Mountains. Whilst we were there we spotted Rachel and called across for her to join us.
Helen wanted to do some shopping in Primark, so we did that next. Then we headed off home as we needed to get ready for the evening wedding reception of my sister-in-law Sue’s daughter Lisa to Anthony. Helen and I were to drive down using Mum’s car, as Mum was already in Torquay having attended the earlier reception at Oldway Mansion. The wedding evening reception Helen and I were to attend was held at the Livermead Hotel on Torquay sea front.
